Hi from Victoria, B.C. Canada. I am a retired mobile dental hygienist who specialized in serving people living in long term care. When I was 40, I went back to university part time and over 6 years, got a degree in visual arts. I focused on painting and art theory (creativity and aesthetics for personal and social development). I love early modern painting and taught myself to bang out colours from a limited palette.  Jen’s class has taught me how to avoid white as long as possible for richer saturation of hue, using yellow ochre light and vassari’s naples yellow instead. She taught me that its ok to use a lot of white when necessary, as in the painting of white fur. I learned how ivory black can add a lot of depth if used carefully, and how English Red anchors the dance of transitions of value, hue and saturation with her palette of hues.
