The master of *chiaroscuro*, using deep shadows and dramatic light with a rich, earthy palette.
An "alchemist" of atmosphere, using luminous yellows and fiery reds to capture the sublime power of light.
An Impressionist master who used a bright, high-key palette with bold blues and delicate pinks to capture light.
A virtuoso who mixed lifelike skin tones and shimmering light from only four colors: black, white, red, and yellow.
Achieved hyper-saturated, fantasy landscapes and an incandescent "Parrish blue" by patiently glazing thin layers of color.
Explore color as a science, using Munsell's three-dimensional system of Hue, Value, and Chroma to gain total control.
