Drawing America is thrilled to bring artist and educator Will Weston to New York City for a full day Artistic Anatomy Illustrated Lecture.
Mr. Weston’s workshops sell out all over the world and until now we have not had the good fortune to have him in New York City.
Mr. Weston teaches drawing and composition workshops for professional artists at DreamWorks Animation. See why he has 171k followers on Instagram.
We hope you will join us for this six-hour event (with a one-hour lunch break). Below is Mr. Weston’s description of the session. Bring your sketchbooks to take massive amounts of notes.
Schedule: Lecture 10:00 – 12:30 – Break 12:30 – 1:30 – Lecture 1:30 4:00
VENUE: This lecture will take place at the wonderful LaMama Galleria located at 47 Great Jones Street.
This illustrated lecture teaches a clear, simple and accurate figure construction technique that suits the modern educational environment where students have a lot more to learn in a short period of time. It’s updated from more classical drawing traditions but is easier to grasp in the beginning and can be more quickly learned. This approach combines perfectly with my compositional drawing class and assumes students will soon want to draw figures in motion, composed in groups and as parts of a narrative story with environments. These techniques can be applied in animation, graphic novels, children’s books, and some games.
“The workshop is based on classes I developed at ArtCenter (where it is considered an essential) and seminars for professionals I’ve taught at the Society of Illustrators in LA and for Dreamworks TV and Feature Animation in Los Angeles.”
Please note that this event will be recorded and attendance implies you are okay with being recorded incidentally as audience members. No photos or videos of Mr. Weston’s lecture are permitted.
