Looking at Drawings in Bad Weather – Online Collections

Recently it snowed in London and a major Nor’easter battered New York City.
This got us thinking about ways to see art while not daring to venture out into the weather.
While nothing can replace the joy of looking at an original drawing from mere inches away, being able to zoom into a drawing on a clear and bright computer screen allows a level of discovery that makes up for not being there in person with your favorite piece.
We decided to share a few of our favorite online drawing collections with the hope that you will be inspired to get out into the world and draw more!
We hope you enjoy.
The Morgan Library and Museum has a stunning collection of Drawings Online with an amazing zoom feature.
We curated a sample search of The Metropolitan Museum‘s Online Drawing Collection here. We set it to Highlights, though there are hundreds more online.
The National Gallery literally had the banner above on the top of the site while we searched for their Online Drawing Collection
Finally, here is the Web Gallery of Art Database which is online only. They have a stunning collection of works including drawing, painting, and sculptures. This one can take hours of your otherwise dreary day!
