It is Drawing New York’s great privilege to present a two and half hour illustrated lecture on: Human Anatomy – The Pelvis, by master sculptor and anatomist Frank Porcu.

Mr. Porcu’s dynamic, impassioned and intelligent lectures are legendary throughout the artistic community. This is a great chance to learn from a true master of the subject.

In 2013, Mr. Porcu’s sculpture, commissioned by The New York Historic Society, was unveiled by singer and fine artist Tony Bennet in New York City. Photos from the event can be seen here.

• This lecture take place in a theater setting with seats on risers for good viewing.

• While there is no scheduled break, attendees are free to take breaks as needed during the lecture.

 

Frank Porcu’s philosophy and knowledge, grows from a 20 year hands on practice in stereoscopic medical dissection.  With a BFA from Pratt Institute, and an MFA from the New York Academy of Art Graduate School of Figurative art, he has 6 years additional training in traditional methods of stone carving.  Mr. Porcu has been lecturing on Anatomy, Drawing, Sculpture, and Painting to art and medical students for 20 years.  With students from the high-school up to the graduate level, his venues include: Pratt Institute, Columbia University, North Shore University Hospital Health System, NYAA Graduate School, the Art Students League, as well as numerous other small ateliers, and Universities throughout the United States.  Mr. Porcu practices what he preaches every day, as a professional commissioned sculptor.  Testing his theories and methods in his studio, he specializes in monumental figurative works and portraiture, in the late classical Hellenistic tradition.  He is also well known for his extraordinary skill and mastery of drawing and painting.
