Drawing New York at Swann Auction Galleries
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
Todd Weyman, Director of Swann Auction Galleries generously spoke to Drawing New York members about Rembrandt’s etching process for 45 minutes. Along with Cataloguer, Allison Ransom they explained various aspects of inking the plates, variations in quality, conservation, and paper use while giving wonderful historical context about the artists’ world at the time.
One of the exciting aspects of visiting Swann is the ability to peel back the mat boards and the mylar covers to look up close at the work. The work takes on an intimate feel when it comes off the wall and is in your hands.
Each member of the group received a beautiful catalog for free. We encourage you to visit Swann Auction Galleries at 104 east 25th street, often as they have an amazing amount of beautiful work passing through their robust auction schedule.[/vc_column_text][thb_gap height=”22″][vc_btn title=”Join our Meetup to learn about upcoming demonstrations” style=”classic” color=”sandy-brown” size=”lg” align=”center” button_block=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.meetup.com%2Fdrawingnewyork%2F||target:%20_blank|”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][thb_gap height=”22″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
