Delacroix – Devotion to Drawing at The Met

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]While the painting show, Delacroix at the Metropolitan Museum is getting a lot of press, we highly recommend Devotion to Drawing — Delacroix Drawings, at The Metropolitan Museum of Art from July 17th through November 12, 2018.
This exhibition shows the broad range of use artists have for making drawings; many of them not to create objects of beauty but as working documents in a studio.
You can see exhibition highlights on the Metropolitan Museum’s website. This exhibition is accompanied by a catalog which you can pre-order here.

Here is the exhibition description from the museum. “Renowned as a giant of French Romantic painting, Eugène Delacroix (1798–1863) was equally a dedicated and an innovative draftsman. Through a selection of more than one hundred works on paper—from finished watercolors to sketchbooks, from copies after old master prints to preparatory drawings for important projects—this exhibition will explore the central role of drawing in Delacroix’s practice.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
