Ms. Foss teaches oil painting at Drawing New York on Monday and Tuesday evenings in our Gramercy Park studio. You can register for her classes here.
She is also a content contributor to our website writing articles that provide valuable insight into the mind of an artist, their process and their needs.
This amazing process shot was taken by a passerby at the Metropolitan Museum of Art while Ms. Foss painted on site.
“Here’s my master copy painting of John Singer Sargent’s “The Wyndham Sisters”. My favorite place, the @metmuseum was gracious to allow me to paint this 30″ x 30″ (76.2 x 76.2 cm) piece in front of the massive 8ft x 10ft original hanging in the @metamericanwing . 💙 I was immersed in JSS’s color usage and brushwork as well as reading a book about the ladies (Those Wild Wyndams) to get me into the headspace of the sitters. 8 sessions at the Met and then finished in the studio, this was a whirlwind painting for me.”
Oh yeah, we mentioned this was her second master copy. Here is a picture of the stunning first one she created.
